Case Study: Launching the Masterpiece Campaign

Founded in 1982, the Kansas City Symphony serves as a major force of cultural life in the local community. With the public phase launch of its endowment Masterpiece Campaign on the horizon, the Symphony needed help from Morningstar Communications with messaging and execution to inspire and encourage community engagement.


The Kansas City Symphony needed to connect with and inspire the local community to give to its Masterpiece Campaign, which had a goal of reaching $55 million. This campaign would help ensure the future of the Symphony remained bright and viable for years to come.


Morningstar Communications helped the Symphony hone its story for the local community. By focusing on the benefits the Symphony brings to all Kansas Citians, we created key messaging to inspire engagement. We worked with the Symphony to roll out the messaging at a public launch. We crafted an event script and social media content, and assisted with media relations.


The Kansas City Symphony connected with the community through multiple communications channels and inspired giving for its Masterpiece Campaign. The community has contributed $991,250 to-date, unlocking an additional gift of $1.25 million and putting the organization very close to its fundraising goal.
